According to Redfin, home prices were up 14.9% compared to last year in Essex County for September 2024. Homes sold for a median price of $650,000.

All of the most expensive homes sold in Essex County in the last 30 days are located in Short Hills (scroll down for the list).

Tony Verducci, co-founder of the NJ Luxury Real Estate Group, was the listing agent on several of Short Hills' most recent luxury sales. He says many buyers in the upper market already live in town and were looking to upgrade.

"Short Hills is such a desirable town that a lot of the buyers looking at these luxury homes have been move-up buyers staying in town because they love it so much," Verducci said.

"We do get New York City buyers but in these cases, when you get more toward the upper end, it's folks in town who love it and want more space."

The top five most expensive recent sales include:

1. 253 Hartshorn Dr., Short Hills: Sold Oct. 15 for $6.8 million

2. 281 Hartshorn Dr., Short Hills: Sold Oct. 15 for $6.8 million
